Richard Chai displayed a modern take on geometry during Spring 2014 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
The Richard Chai LOVE collection was up next on our list of shows to hit and we must say we loved it! “Soft geometry” was all Richard said when he was asked by WWD about the inspiration behind his line. As promised, his women’s LOVE line was complete with soft colors, geometric patterns and bold stripes. We thought both the solid and print dresses were gorgeous. His flowy dresses and pants and body-hugging frocks stole the show. Flowy pants and skirts are always fun except when they’re so flowy you (or a model) trips on them. Yes, that happened! We also love them paired with a crop top and Richard put them together extremely well.
The mix of poppy, plaid and white radiating from the runway screamed spring. As for colors, there was a lot of black, teal, blue and a red described in the program as “grenadine” throughout the show. Blazers, quilted moto-jackets (a collaboration with Andrew Marc) and tailored pants were seen on both the male and female models.
All of the models’ hair (male and female) was slicked back and straight at the bottom. And makeup was minimal, which seems to be the trend this season. The intimate crowd included the Jonas Brothers, Zachary Quinto, Colton Haynes and Christina Ricci.
